Your Visit to HMP Kilmarnock

We look forward to welcoming you to HMP Kilmarnock.

Please remember that HMP Kilmarnock is a high security prison, and as such, we would like to take this opportunity to provide you with some information relating to your safety and security whilst visiting us.

If this is your first visit to the prison, please ensure that you bring photographic ID such as a passport or drivers licence with you, which you should present to the officer in the Gatehouse.

Please do not bring any other items to the prison with you, and most importantly, do not bring any mobile phone or communication items such as mobile phone charger or SIM card, as it is a criminal offence to attempt to introduce such items into the prison.

On entering the Gatehouse, you will be required to undergo searching, when you will be asked to remove your jacket and any metal items including belts, and perhaps your shoes. These will be passed through an X-Ray Machine, and you will be asked to pass through a metal detecting portal.

You may also be subject to a rub-down search by a member of our Dedicated Search Team.

Please rest assured that this is normal procedure, and we would be grateful for your full cooperation.

What We Do With Your Data

We take the protection of your data seriously, and the law requires us to do so.
